Summer is my happy time. Autumn's leaves and crisp nights are nostalgic, winter snowflakes are magical and springtime is energizing; but summer...summer is freedom. Summer is laughter and tranquility. Pool parties, barbecues, fireworks, sleeping with the windows open, warm evening breezes, the smell of wild flowers, and chasing fireflies as the last bit of daylight fades. My favorite, of course, is hearing the song of the cicadas. It takes me right back to grandpa's farm, chasing grasshoppers through the wheat fields.
